Sure didn't take long for Redford to fit right in and feel safe among his herd. What a perfect scene to start your day.
Linda, he is as sweet as can be - with a spitfire core. :) A few minutes ago he was playing a game where he would walk up to me like a little lamb and the instant I held out my hand he would gallop away and buck. Then he'd come right back and do it all again. Rafer Johnson and Salina came up to me like "what's the big deal, huh?"
That is one of the most adorable pictures I've ever seen. They couldn't be any cuter if they tried.
what a sight! i used to think there was nothing sweeter than horses dozing in the sun, but those donkeys are just too cute! our horses all take turns standing watch while the others rest; is that salina standing watch over them? (sorry i don't know all of your animals by sight yet...)
Arlene, I wish you could have seen Redford this evening. I opened the gate to the arena and he ran in there and did the most gorgeous trot all the way around, like he was in a show. Rafer was in there too - it was hilarious.
jme, there is just something about how compact they are, I think. And yes, that is Salina, standing guard. She rarely lays down anymore, although she does still roll every day. Periodically I find shavings in her mane and tail, so she does some, at night. I've never seen her lying down in the field though. She is such a sentinel.
They radiate happiness and contentment. I love Salina - she's a great lady. When you've got a minute, stop by and see me - there's something for you at my blog.

They do look very small in this photo, don't they? I think that's partly what drew me to take the photograph. The big bold personalities were not apparent, so it was such a different aspect of them.
