it's writing weekend and I can't wait

I'm racing through morning chores this a.m. because I have a meeting to attend, and then a little grocery shopping to do, but when I get home, I'm declaring writing group weekend's official start.

D. will arrive sometime after 2, and I am so grateful that she's coming, because I have been walking around with my head full of books for two weeks and I need this writing time badly.

We will write through the night, through the heat, through all the chores that other members of my family will take over and do for me, because it's Writing Group Weekend!

Looking out my window, it is overwhelmingly green. The horses are transitioning to the front field and hopefully grazing the cooler nights makes up some for the very hot days we're having right now. They're all slick and shiny and even the donkey boys are beginning to shed out.

Send good writing energy this way, and if you happen to be a writer yourself, send an excerpt and we'll read it out loud and send you encouraging words back!

It sounds like you and your writing friend are going to have a wonderfully creative weekend. Sending creative writing thoughts your way. Have a lovely time.

Billie, I wish I could join you and read out some of my blog. It's very difficult being stuck here amongst a group of illiterate philistines. It's rainy and cool here today so sitting in a circle with my fellow authors would be particularly soothing. You do gather inside, I presume? Not under a bough on a scratchy blanket...

Thank you, Arlene - we are swimming along again. This monthly meeting is like magic getting me back to my work.

Sheaffer, you would love it. Last night we snacked and talked and updated inside. This morning we convened on the front porch with coffee and listened to the mourning doves while the goldfinches flew about.

We worked independently for several hours, and then went out to lunch. We've done more independent work this afternoon, and some of us are going kayaking when the sun drops down.

You would make a wonderful addition to the group, so consider yourself an honorary member. You are welcome anytime - though I have a feeling I would have to wrestle you away from Rafer Johnson and Redford, who would lure you with their rolling circle, which they have managed to get to the perfect texture of soft dust. Would it be fair for me to wave snifters of brandy about to draw you back to the writers' circle? I would definitely give it a try.

Billie, that tour of the continent with Rafer remains one of my cherished goals. And their dust bath sounds perfectly circular and dusty but I might be tempted with a wee snifter of brandy and carrot juice...

Sheaffer, we await! As today is so very hot, I would wave slices of chilled watermelon about!
