today's magical moment: the spider version of a double rainbow!

I'm not sure how I got so lucky, but this morning I noticed there were two spiders and two webs that were about 4 inches apart, like a double rainbow, spider style.

There is a lovely cool breeze today and as I stood there photographing, the webs blew in sync, then touched, stuck for a few moments, unstuck, blew in sync again, and the process continued.

I have never seen such a configuration of two webs this complex. It made me want to sing.

Postscript:

This evening I had another chiro appointment and a massage, and when I left the office near sunset, which was quite intense and gorgeous, I noted a few drops of rain falling on the windshield and turned to my left. There was an amazingly clear and pristine double rainbow which seemed to begin just behind the chiro office and extended across the county to end right where November Hill is.

I drove toward home, curving to change roads, and suddenly was facing the double rainbow. Just as it seemed I would drive right beneath its double arch, I switched the radio and the Eagles sang, "it might be raining, but there's a rainbow above you."

By then nothing would have surprised me in this domino of synchronicity, but along the final stretch to home, three deer leaped from the forest to the road's edge, stopped, then bounded across, looking almost exactly like the November Hill Press logo.

It has been a magical day.

Awesome picture Billie!

Spiders blow my mind sometimes. The resident writing spider near my front door caught a huge grasshopper the other day - it took 24 hours to "eat". She must have known foul weather was coming as she made her egg case last night.

That's one or should I say two very neat webs. Great picture. J. found a writing spider on the paddock fence the other day.

How wonderful, Billie!

Billie, a double web - what does it mean? Surely it will bring you good luck? Our spider's web got stuck on Doc's head like a veil on a hat but the spider soon had it shipshape again.

V, I love those writing spiders. We have one very large one up at the eave of our house over the garage - she's sort of like the masthead of our "ship" this year.

Arlene, it's odd that I have a fairly strong fear of spiders still, but at the same time, the fascination I've had since childhood has gotten stronger over the years. As long as I don't think one is actually ON me, I love them.

Sheaffer, I'm not sure - read the postscript I added to the blog post and tell me what you think!

I can see Doc with his hat made of silk - next thing you know Molly will have the spider working as a seamstress for her very own hat!

Greta, it was a lovely way to start this day!

Amazing picture.
I'm always amazed at what wonderful images you capture---of course, one of the reasons you do is because you allow yourself to be open to the world around you. A good lesson for all of us.

BTW-- love the tree background on your blog!

Thanks, Dawn - it's about time for me to find a fall backdrop but we're still green here so I'm keeping the trees for now!

I love when synchronicity happens: magic happens then. That is a great photo.

Thanks, Maire - I agree about the magic!!

The most amazing spider web I have ever seen. And I love double rainbows. .

It's the highlight of my discoveries of webs, for sure. Even more interesting - as these spiders tend to do, they took them down and rebuilt someplace else the next day.
