a little salina update

The swelling has reduced by one-third as of this morning - and when I attempted to get an even closer look, she walked away. As in, "that no longer requires your attention, please give me more hay."

If I ever go back to school to study anything formally, it will be homeopathy. Powerful and effective.

Sounds great and she is funny, I do love the mares, they are so matter of fact about everything.

It was pretty funny. She does the same thing when getting a leg hosed - she stands there perfectly for 20 minutes and then simply walks away.

Sounds like she knows she has you wrapped around her pretty little hoof!

Glad Salina is doing better. I've had that happen in communications - the animals will stay until they're done talking, and then they simply walk away and stand at the door! It's hilarious to watch.

Debra, she is such a spirit. She's 25, and came from Germany a number of years back. She lost one eye many years ago and has arthritic knees but is so attuned to everyone and everything on this farm.

Awhile back I posted that one night the geldings managed to get into the front field during the night, when they weren't supposed to be there due to the new spring grass (too rich for them to eat much of) and she came to my bedroom window and whinnied until I woke up.

She's an amazing horse.

Janet, it's pretty amazing how clear she is, and how well she communicates with her people. :)

The best thing about her (for me, personally) is that if I go out not centered, she reflects that to me, and suddenly in her behavior I see exactly what my own inner mood is. The moment I breathe and let that go, she settles into the normal easy-going gal that she is.

wow, your mare sounds amazing. she must be a very wise soul :-)

my only experience with homeopathy was through a client of mine who used it on all of her horses, and i have to say i was impressed with the results. it's something i'd like to learn more about too...

jme, when I found her, I knew from the photograph alone that she was meant to be my therapy horse.

She's admittedly the only mare I've ever lived with and known so well, but even given the sensitivity of mares in general, I believe Salina is something special. She is the heartbeat of this farm - if she's calm and happy it's a sure sign things are going pretty well for everyone else. And she knows if someone isn't okay before they know it themselves.

Re: homeopathy - I have had such amazing results with it personally and with my animals. We're lucky to have classically trained homeopaths locally both for us and for the animals.

Wow, Billie, what an amazing horse she is. I love that story about her coming to your bedroom window! She is obviously an extremely spiritually evolved soul. Sounds like the two of you were meant for one another.

Hugs,
Debbie

Debra, I agree - she really was meant to be here. I hope she feels the same.
