happy new year

Over at Murderati, a sort of New Year's mantra formed yesterday, one I like so much I've adopted it as my own for 2008.

Write More. Write Better. Write Faster. From The Heart.

I also aim to Ride With Schwung.

And to Treasure My Family.

In an odd moment of whimsy I said to my husband I intend to Have More Parties.

Imagine what a year it will be.

more parties. I'm all for that. I think I might be more social this year. odder things have happened.

I'm hoping that part of my resolution plays out. I tend to get very hung up on cleaning the house before having folks over, and that deters a lot of parties I'd otherwise have.

I also put "get rid of hostess anxiety" on my list. I believe it was Erma Bombeck who has advised us all to clean less and have friends over more. It's a pretty shocking thought.

Funny how we get so caught up in the cleaning/prep part of parties, instead of focusing on the company and the spirit of sharing food and drink and ideas.

I get so stressed over stupid things the morning of a party - it always works out that when the first guest arrives, I forget the anxiety, but clearly the anxiety memory is strong enough to make me think twice before having another one!
