of what does a donkey dream?

The two little donka boys are napping in the sun this afternoon, watched over by Salina. I'm sitting here watching them, thinking how lucky I am to have such adorable family members and wishing I could just whisk them right in here with me and tuck them into my bed.

In the midst of his nap, Redford started braying. In his sleep! He kept going until Kyra Corgi barked from the back yard and woke him up.

What does a donkey boy dream about? Hay, full feed tubs, running and playing? He is sitting there right now, little donkey knees tucked tightly together, ears aimed back at Salina who has decided to come closer.

I wonder if Sheaffer could shed some light?!

It was so sweet I could hardly stand it!

C, I am hoping he will - I am so curious. :)

Awww, that's so cute. You've really got to start carrying a camera around with you. They're just too adorable.

Dougie Donk has asked me to tell you that he dreams of a Mediterranean climate: endless supplies of carrots, ginger biscuits and small people who know where to scrath in the right places.

Instead he has 24 inches of snow & an increasingly crabby attendant who is dressed as Nanuck of the North. Nanuck(a.k.a. ME) shares his dreams of sunshine :))

Arlene, in this instance, the camera was inches away from my typing hands! But I knew if I opened the door to take the photo he would get up. Unless I just happen to be in the right place with camera in hand, most of my photos end up being equines walking towards me!

Nanuck - thank you for passing on Dougie's informed response! LOL - small people who know how to scratch in the right places!

Redford and Rafer both are not amused by their own personal Nanuck who is wearing things like ski pants and huge LL Bean parkas to stay warm while doing chores. They have been running away from me - until I peel all the puffy, rustly layers off, then they decide, "oh, it's her after all."

24 inches of snow certainly puts me in mind of an attitude of gratefulness. We have frozen ground, ice in water troughs, and 25 degrees this morning - but mercifully no snow!

That is precious! Braying in his sleep! I can just see the three of them.

Yes two feet of snow might be a bit much!

Greta, it was - I had never seen such a thing. What a treat!

Ahhh Billie, of what do we not dream? This and that, something and nothing, anything and everything. But mostly of edibles. And of course, warmth and sunshine. And world peace. Rafer is such a highly evolved young donkey that he is even able to give voice to his observations whilst asleep - that boy is destined for greatness. I am told that I snore but of course that's typical of the rumour and innuendo that flies freely around here.

billie said...

Matthew, do not even THINK it!

Sheaffer, snoring is under-rated - although I am certain you do not!

And of course donkeys dream of world peace. One needs only to look into the eyes of a donkey to see that - thank you for reminding us!

Although... ahem... I wonder at times if Redford might not be in early training for the special forces. With world peace as the end goal, of course. He is quite the guardian in our herd.

I love it. Your donkey posts are nearly winning me over. I have to confess to a prejudice against donkeys, due to their terrorising of Mali and very loud bray!

OH, Maire, there is a really good one coming soon... maybe it will tip the bucket completely. :)

I know there must be some donkey terrors out there, but I personally have never met one! Our boys are sweet as pies, so very loving and yet full of personality and spunk too.
