Interesting development on rollkur/hyperflexion/LDR issue - READ HERE.
And PLEASE go READ THIS article written by Julie Taylor and Luise Thomsen where they hit the nail squarely on the head about this ridiculous ploy by Sjef Janssen to sue Astrid Appels. Thank you, Maire, for directing me to this!
Makes me want to buy a video camera, head to the local dressage show this weekend, and start my own YouTube extravaganza. And you never know. Maybe I will.

That sounds optimistic. I liked their question about codes of conduct for Dutch team trainers. There is an interesting editorial here from epona tv: http://epona.tv/uk/news/show/artikel/editorial/?tx_ttnews
Don't know if it will come to anything, but many ordinary (non-professional) people have a pretty good idea for what's proper treatment of animals and what isn't. I also like the suggestion that in fact there are many in the dressage world, including plenty of "experts" who see no difference between LDR and rollkur.
Thanks, Maire, I am going to check out your link!
You already know how I feel about all these 'professionals' and their training methods. So I won't bother to go into a rant again.
If you are really serious about getting a video camera, might I suggest the Flip Video camera. My husband and I both have one, they are about $99 on Amazon, it takes great clear videos with sound and the flip tab on the side pops up to insert into your computer, and wallah you can post to a blog or you tube etc... It couldn't be easier and it's the size of an Instamatic and fits in your pocket. Check it out and get down to some of those shows!
Billie, look forward to your latest film efforts and the behaviours they reveal.
Kate, my take is that Sjef is getting ready to find out that he does not rule the dressage world.
Arlene, thanks for the recommendation. I have already been looking at the Flips and hopefully will get one soon. Unfortunately, this weekend is not going to be my debut b/c I just found out two of my family members will be heading to the beach! So I'm here with my herd, where we videotape fun things, not horses being cranked into a frame!
Sheaffer, I will manage some footage at the next one, hopefully.
