on semi-hiatus for june

Well. It's nearly June and I thought I'd be ready to blog like crazy having been away during the month of May.

But there is still so much to do here I am planning to stay on a semi-hiatus on into June. There's one post I really want to write, so I may get to that mid-month or so. If I can get my writing projects to the next phase I'll be doing lots of book-related blogging, so in a way this is the calm before the storm. :)

Meanwhile, a sample of one of the things that has been going on around here,  the pinwheel garden, with watermelon mounds against the back fence. We still have two "spokes" to build, and I have more mounded beds to plant, but I've been harvesting dragon tongue beans for weeks, and today, the first yellow squash.

Hope everyone is heading into summer with green grass, enough rain, and only a few insect pests. Back at least once in June, and hopefully full force by the beginning of July!

Your garden looks wonderful. I'm not much for eating veggies and have never heard of dragon tongue beans. That's one unusual name.

I'll be looking forward to your mid-June post. Have a lovely month.

Thanks Arlene! The bean in the photo is a dragon tongue - green with purple stippling - and they are absolutely wonderful sauteed in butter and garlic, and also raw.

Hope you are well and getting that indoor ready to ride!

Billie, we miss you but are glad you can spend some quality time with your vegetables - and of course your family. I'll wager those beans taste wonderful when they're all dry and twig-like...

Sheaffer, I'm sure you'd be a very helpful gardening companion... :)

I actually have a blog post for later today - and not the one I mentioned in this post - so perhaps I am on less of a hiatus this month than I thought I was... :)

am jealous of your summer squash! it will be a little time before such warm weather veggies are coming out of the KS garden.
do the Boyz (and girl) get to have some garden treats?

Deborah, they are mostly interested in the grass and the dandelion greens - and not at all fond of those itchy cucumber, zucchini, and squash leaves!
