So very relieved, happy, and ready to get to work now that President Biden and VP Harris are at the helm. Not to mention a Democrat-led House and Senate.
It’s time to clean house, both the WH and all houses of law enforcement. Time to clean up the planet. Time to clean up how we do business on every level of government.
As our inaugural poet laureate Amanda Gorman said today:
There is always light.
Only if we are brave enough to see it.
There is always light.
Only if we are brave enough to be it.
Big sigh! I think most people are relieved and we can breathe again. It feels like a weight has been lifted off the shoulders of the country and the world.👍🏻😀
ReplyDeleteYes, that’s so true - the feeling of weight being lifted from our shoulders and spirits.
ReplyDeleteAmanda Gorman was SUBLIME! Saying it again for the folks in the back - SUBLIME!!! The high point of the inaugural festivities ...
ReplyDeleteAlso - it was astonishing - that almost tangible sensation of weight being lifted off (of me - and all the fellow Americans I still want to have anything to do with) that yesterday's ceremony created - much like the day the election was certified.
Re-connecting with like-minded citizens, seeing them in the virtual celebrations, being reminded that they are out there and we are a force to be reckoned with... We defeated a fascist "leader", elected the first woman vice-president, and preserved democracy by being politically active and using the privilege of our enfranchisement. Power to the people!
Thanks for that terrific list of WHAT WE DID. Power, indeed. I’m really proud of the turn-out, grateful to those like Stacey Abrams who worked so hard in Georgia, and happy that some of the structures that seemed to be fraying actually held firm.
ReplyDeleteStill much hard work to be done, but the sense of relief and hope has returned, and most importantly, like you said above, we feel connected to our like-minded majority again. So critical for moving forward.
Oh - and do want to highlight a line of Biden's speech that really resonated:
ReplyDelete"not be the example of our power, but by the power of our example"
Yes! Thank you! That was spectacular!
