We’re fine here, with about 5 inches of rain total since last Monday, and wind that has gusted, blown steady, and currently died down quite a bit. We lost power for about 22 hours but had water set aside for us and for animals and for flushing toilets. Food and hay stocked in as well, and my grandma’s oil lamps with extra oil and wicks from Lehman’s were very useful last night when night fell.
Many areas of NC are flooding and have sustained huge damage, and I hope everyone comes through with the least possible upheaval.

Everything is good here on the island.
The storm was mostly a massively expensive inconvenient non-event and creator of major stress. Think I'm still detoxing from the cortisol.
Most important - all animals and people are okay. Except for Margie the hen who was (I think) taken by resident Great Horned Owl. Val and I are still recovering from our up close and personal encounter with him on Thursday evening. So gigantic!

Here there are a few folks I know trying hard to find space to relocate entire animal shelters full of dogs and cats who are in danger due to flooding south and east of us. And people relocating horses for the same reason. We have had about 6 inches of rain since last Monday so well below the amount that would impact us negatively, though with continuing steady wind and a little gusting I worry about trees coming down.
I’m so relieved Florence didn’t hit at Category 4 wind speeds as that with the rain would have been devastating for our coast. It’s bad enough as it is for so many people.
