what we need is here

Daughter pulled some photos of me and the Big Bay from our archives for inspiration. The sun came out this morning, my leg is healing, and I think if I wear a leg wrap for protection it will be okay to start riding, especially since Keil and I both need lots of walking to get back in shape.

It's Wendell Berry season here: wild geese, gorgeous horses, no flies, chilly nights, changing leaves, and forward motion.  ... quiet in heart and in eye clear. What we need is here.

  4. Love the picture of you and the Big Bay! I'm loving this weather too, and plan on getting some riding in this week. I think your leg should be alright if you wrap it and just walk ;) I was wondering if you were getting hit with the floods and storms down there but I guess it missed you.

  5. Arlene, we got a lot of rain but nothing like South Carolina did. We are really lucky that we're on a hill so the rain tends to drain off fairly quickly. It actually worked pretty well with our grass seed too - a few areas washed out but mostly it just watered it all very continuously for days and days. :)

We also just got a new barn roof estimate and the guy was able to see exactly what is going on with current roof.

The sunshine was soooo nice today though. I'm glad we're past this long rain event.

Can't wait to read about your rides!

  6. I love fall, too. Particularly the reduction in biting insects - horses are much happier.

Glad you're getting ready to ride again . . .

  7. So nice to have the big horseflies out of the picture, Kate. Everything about fall is better for me. The horses love it too. :)

  8. And thanks to dear husband who takes photos even when I tell him not to - otherwise I would not have this one. :)
