Arlene, between this and TinTin it will be a fun holiday movie season! The scene where the horse turns around and looks at the camera looks exactly like Keil Bay. (who when I suggested tonight that he had snuck off and starred in a movie and had the cash hidden in his stall turned around and gave me the evil eye, LOL).
I read a synopsis of this story and can almost absolutely assure you that I will not be seeing any part of it. Mostly because I don't want my hair to get stuck in the goo on the theater floor where I would be, weeping and sobbing my brains out...while my kids drag me out to the parking lot. I don't do animal death/suffering in movies...walked out of Of Mice and Men (the puppy), and into Last of The Mohicans (human slaughter). My husband couldn't believe it. :)
Considering that I can't make it through Black Beauty, Bambi, or even The Lion King, I may be being optimistic about my ability to see this one - but there is something about the thought of the movie-going public seeing a film about what horses brought to WWI that makes me think this might have an overall positive message that I want to experience. OTOH, I know I will cry and it might be too much. I am well-practiced at simply covering my eyes and ears and blocking out things I can't manage while my family laughs at me for being so sensitive. "It's just a MOVIE, MOM..."
Thanks so much for taking the time to comment - I love reading them and respond as often as I can. I also love comments that add to the original post, so feel free to share your own experiences, insights, and thoughts.
We'll definitely be going to see this next month when it comes out. I'll have to bring a box of tissues with me also.
