Look back at our struggle for freedom, Trace our present day's strength to its source, And you'll find that our pathway to glory, Is strewn with the bones of the horse.
Where in this wide world can man find nobility without pride, Friendship without envy, Or beauty without vanity? Here, where grace is served with muscle And strength by gentleness confined He serves without servility; he has fought without enmity. There is nothing so powerful, nothing less violent. There is nothing so quick, nothing more patient.
Thanks to all of you for the quotes and good thoughts. I feel we owe horses a lot more than they get when it comes to thanks and gratitude for how much they do for us, and have done for us, over the course of many many years in history.
Thanks so much for taking the time to comment - I love reading them and respond as often as I can. I also love comments that add to the original post, so feel free to share your own experiences, insights, and thoughts.
