CEO of GoDaddy killing bull elephants on vacation

Husband just sent this to me - we are changing our websites to a different host and I thought many readers here might want this info as well. I have not watched the video. Not sure how the links will transfer here, but don't have time to make them live - you'll need to copy and paste.

*******

Apparently the CEO of GoDaddy thought it was a great idea to post a video of his noble vacation of killing bull elephants in Zimbabwe. The video is briefly graphic. The CEO is a major tool and incredibly misguided. The height of stupidity is when villagers are butchering the elephant wearing orange GoDaddy hats.

I've transferred all of my domains from GoDaddy this evening after seeing this. I want nothing to do with supporting an imbecile like this.

I ended up transferring to namecheap.com
They posted the video on their site and offered a transfer discount along with a pledge to donate $1 to savetheelephants.org

It really doesn't matter where you transfer your domains if this sort of thing appalls you as well... as long as you can stop filtering money to GoDaddy.

  1. That's awful. One of my absolute favorite animals are elephants and I hate to see them abused like this for some idiot's ego. Glad you took yourself out of their system. More people should do the same thing, but not many people probably know what's going on.

  2. billie, heaven help us all. This is 2011 and there is a human out there with all that money and this barbaric mindset? This is very, very disturbing.

  3. Thanks for the heads up billie.

I have never understood trophy hunting. If you are going to eat what you humanely kill, and the animal has a fighting chance, I can accept hunting.

What I've heard, from a couple I met who have also shot elephants, is the animals are captive on a reserve and basically trotted out for the "hunters" to take pot shots at until they hit something.

I'm exaggerating a little, but it's not a situation that requires much skill. And it costs tens of thousands of dollars to stay at the reserves and purchase the license.

    Blech!

  4. Can't bear to watch the video; but can only hope that all the bad karma I'm sending this CEO will make him feel ill for weeks..... what a knob!

  6. I had no idea what the advertisements for GoDaddy were like - we haven't had TV for many years so I just had no clue! After watching a little online I now realize that even without the elephants this was no company I wanted to support. Glad to have moved on.
