the little bear

Once upon a time there was a little bear. Actually he was a Corgi puppy. And he came to live on November Hill.

First he met Kyra Corgi, who gave the international Corgi sign for thumbs up - a wagging hind end, some conversation, and a romp.

Then he was ceremoniously welcomed by Moomintroll Cat, who walked through the living room, the laundry room, out the cat/dog door, through the back yard, sniffed noses, and then gave the little bear a resounding smack with his polydactyl (and declawed, not by us) paw. Now that boundaries were clear, the rest of the cats said a very begrudging hello.

After that the little bear underwent an hour of pupparazi - at one point three cameras were clicking at one time. What's a young handsome bear to do? He found a safe place to get away from it all for a moment.

When Kyra Corgi stole his brand new chewy bone and made away with it, the little bear found something even better:

He found one of Chase Corgi's old tennis balls and immediately took right to it. And what he did next was actually captured on film, but the crazy film lady took it sideways and can't figure out how to rotate it. So you'll have to turn your head sideways to see.

I do believe he is smarter than the average bear!

The end of a long day for a little bear:

Welcome, Bear/Tristan to November Hill!

The End

(but of course this is just part one - more and better photos coming soon!!)

  1. I could look at puppy pictures all day, even if I have to turn my head sideways. He's so stinkin' cute. Congratulations on the new addition to your family.

  2. Billie, are you sure he isn't a motorized, wind-up toy? Surely this level of "cute" cannot possibly exist in the real world. The woman has swooned and gone off mumbling about the joys of puppy world.

  3. Thanks, Linda - we are having a blast with him.

  4. Sheaffer, even when sitting with one's hands on the fluffy little Bear, he is so cute it boggles the mind that he is a real live pup.

The only ones around here not infatuated are the felines. Not one of them seems all that amused by His Cuteness! They are amazingly tolerant, but completely wary of him still.

  6. These are not even the "good" photos... I am going to put up a few more of the "fine art" shots in a bit.

  7. He is just too adorable and so smart. I want to give him a hug and kiss on that cute little nose. I'm sure he's loving his new home and new friends. Have fun playing with him.

I can't wait for the "good" photos. Could it be possible that there are better even cuter photos of this little guy? It will be a hard act to follow this post.

  9. Arlene, the outdoor photos from yesterday are just beautiful color-wise - more like portraits than candid shots.

Actually two of my favorites will not be posted here, because my teenagers will not give me permission since they are each in the photos!

I'm trying to upload off and on when I have time, but for whatever reason the internet seems slow this weekend. There are several that I really love.

  10. j, he's very sweet. seems like the kind of pup you could take anywhere with you and he'd settle right in.

he is napping a lot today - I think we wore him out yesterday! And I was up with him around 5:45 this morning so he got an early start. :)

  11. i think you should keep the name bear, myself.

and there is some software out there to rotate video the right way round, i found it once a few years ago - i think i just googled the question! it was on a laptop which subsequently got accidentally terminated by my partner, so can't immediately remember what it was called...

  12. claire, I suspect he will always be "bear" - somehow his name found him before we did, and it's just what comes out of our mouths now.

husband said the same thing about software to fix the video. I will see if I can find it for upcoming video footage... :)

  13. What a lucky puppy to be welcomed into one of the best places an animal can be on this earth! He's an incarnation of "joy" - keep the photos coming!

  14. Victoria, that's the absolutely most perfect description - incarnation of joy - thank you!!
