two very persistent equine pals
I couldn't help but post this. Today someone let himself into the off-limits front field TWO (make that FOUR) TIMES, and someone else started pacing and whinnying at 4-something p.m., unable to wait until the usual 7:30 p.m. grass cocktail hour.
If you're like me, you probably think PONY!
But we're both wrong.
Rafer Johnson, the sweet, serious, intelligent young donkey is the one who let himself quietly into the front field, and Keil Bay is the one loudly announcing his impatience for all to see and hear.
Can't you just hear the translations:
Rafer Johnson: It's the quiet ones you have to watch out for. Ha ha.
Keil Bay: It's GOT to be 7:30 SOMEwhere!

Billie - clever lad, always thinking (I hesitate to scheming)and never losing sight of the main goal! You can be sure Redford is observing and taking notes...
Sheaffer, it remains curious to me that Redford will not use the same tactic (going through a rubberized panel section of fencing we have in one interior place) Rafer uses to maneuver himself around the farm.
Redford did, however, slip himself through the white tape we have set up to enclose the front yard. When husband walked toward him, he went trotting full speed down the driveway, looking for all the world like he was leaving on an adventure down our lane.
I called out to husband to walk back toward me, and midway down Redford stopped, spun around, and galloped back as fast as he could. I lifted the tape and he scooted back under it.
The big difference is that we watch Redford, expecting shenanigans. Rafer sneaks it in, looking so sweet the entire time you almost don't believe your own eyes!
Very funny. It's always so amazing how smart they are and how easily they figure out how to get what they want. Cute little guy.
He is so nonchalant out there - like he thinks if he looks like he belongs there, no one will go get him out again!
