helgstrand teaching piaffe/passage and assorted warm-up videos in arenas around the world
And CLICK HERE to see more footage courtesy of Epona TV of various warm-up practices using rollkur, draw reins, and more nightmarish techniques to control the horses and put them far behind the vertical. (once you get to part one, look to your right on Epona's site to see parts 2, 3, and 4)
What a travesty. The sadness and pain in the horses eye says it all. These aren't horsemen they're no better than torturers with a blanket license to abuse these poor animals.
Billie, I can only echo what Grey Horse Matters said - just look at the horses' eyes. The whole story is there. Such a lot of sadness and fear in an activity that should be full of lightness and sheer exilharation.
Arlene, I cried watching it. It doesn't help that so many of the horses are big bays - the very thought of Keil Bay being ridden that way makes me ill.
Thanks so much for taking the time to comment - I love reading them and respond as often as I can. I also love comments that add to the original post, so feel free to share your own experiences, insights, and thoughts.

ReplyDeleteit's painful to watch. but maybe even more painful is realizing how many other people can watch this and see nothing wrong :-\

ReplyDeletej, I know - it's mind-boggling that anyone can watch this and not feel the pain and the shut-down-ness of these animals.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, ponymaid. It is so clear, if you only look.
