The numbers offered were:
7
58
72
51
22
4
38
9
46
Yesterday morning I wrote down:
pony book
nonfiction book
and then went to a random number generator site and requested two numbers between 1 and 100.
The numbers generated were:
3, which I assigned to the pony book
and
57, which I assigned to the nonfiction book.
I then collected your numbers until midnight.
It was a tie until Sheaffer came along and tipped the scale toward the nonfiction book!
The most interesting part of this is that if you add up all the numbers, including the randomly generated numbers I assigned, you get 367.
If you add those numbers you get 16, and if you add those you get...
my most favorite and lucky number!
7
Which is commonly considered to be a spiritual number, and the nonfiction book is spiritual in nature.
I love it when things connect up so well.
Thank you all for helping me make a decision. It's exciting to be moving on with the next project!
Billie, I confess, the number I chose is from a book by Douglas Adams, "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy". At the very end (I think the chaper is called "So long and thanks for all the fish"), it turns out the dolphins are running everything and the true meaning of life is "46". Somehow it all makes sense. Especially having dolphins running the universe - though donkeys are equally capable - just ask Redford - he's already capable of running anything.
ReplyDeleteOh, I LOVE that, Sheaffer!!
ReplyDeleteDolphins have always been a favorite animal of mine, and I have a story about screenwriting and Hollywood (I used to live there for a bit) that had to do with dolphins - too long to go into, but it is a good little omen that makes it extra special that you broke the tie with 46.
You just made me think of something - Rafer Johnson reminds me of a very successful and highbrow editor of all things literary, while Redford is the hot young literary agent, capable of selling anything to anyone. I think they'd BOTH love the editorial lunches. :)
An added note: if you add up 46, you get 10, and then ONE.
The One.
All One.
Etc.
I'll stop now. :)
I'm glad you found your number and can get on with your writing. I think it's interesting how all the numbers added up. Have fun in your new project.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Arlene - I have all my files opened up on my desktop screen, and now I just need to go up to the garret and get the hard copies.
ReplyDeleteAfter the barn chores... :)
Good luck - I am not surprised to learn that 7 is a spiritual number - and obviously, around our barn, we are partial to 7. What a fun way to make your decision!
ReplyDeleteIt was fun, but I also had a feeling it was a sort of "test" of the audience and what needed to come next.
ReplyDeleteCall me superstitious... or a true believer. :)
