saturday's riches

A pony who has been in treatment for sore hocks, floating around the arena at the trot, breaking into the canter out of sheer pleasure, head and neck rounded, tail lifted and swinging softly, hindquarters fully engaged.

A donkey whose leg was broken putting on his special "donkey trot" - nose lifted, head turning from side to side, proudly sailing across the arena, with his best buddy right behind him.

A new round bale of hay, plus mustard greens and fresh eggs from our hay grower extraordinaire.

Temps above 40!

  1. Does it get any better? I don't think so. You are wealthy indeed.

  2. I agree, Linda, and so are you, with reunions and final adoption papers and those stunning skies.

It's quite wonderful to put all the riches in all the blog posts together and feel, yes, it's a king's ransom!!

  4. Thanks, Lisa. I'm glad I captured some of it with words. It was so beautiful seeing it in motion.

  6. Janet, much like your recent blog post about simply being. Anyone who hasn't read it should hop over to Janet's place - good stuff!

  8. Thanks, Arlene... we had another great free lunge session with the pony today. He is looking GREAT.

I'll probably write later about what else this afternoon brought. Think of a big gap in the stall mats coupled with a depression in the stall base underneath. Yuck yuck yuck.

Hours later, the stall is empty of shavings and mats, I've applied some sawdust to soak up the yuckness, mucked that out, and it will be out of commission for a few days while it dries and then gets repaired.

Can you hire in for this? Sort of like Molly Maid's spring cleaning service? Gak.

  9. I'm reading frantically backwards to find out what happened to the little guy.....

  10. Oh, I hope you found it w/o too much difficulty - short version: we don't exactly know! Best guess is he ran around a corner and that leg hit a soft spot and torqued inward.
