When I went out at mid-day, Rafer Johnson was lying curled up in the soft, clean hay left over from the round bale, in the sunshine, with Redford standing right behind him, like a little guardian.
It was the sweetest thing I've seen yet with these two, and it made me so happy. Rafer hasn't been able to lie in the warm sunshine since he broke his leg. Today, with Redford's company, he was totally "in the light," soaking it in.

Aww, that sounds so cute. You've got to get that battery charged. How cute would that picture have been? I'm dying to see a picture of Redford.
Based on my experience, you will have photo opportunities like this every day that you have two donkeys sharing your world.
One of my daughters says I spend too much time looking at things through a camera lens and not enough time looking at things! Sounds like this picture will live in words and your memory.

billie, could you do us a charcoal sketch? Something slightly Edwardian called "Two Young Donkey Gentlemen in a Haystack"? I would hang a copy where I could examine it daily and would do my best not to use it as a snack.

Mamie, I used to be more focused on having the camera with me at all times, but now it's usually me running for it or just taking it along when I feel like taking photos and capturing whatever happens to present itself.

Oh, I can imagine just the sketch you mean, and I can see it so clearly. But getting my hands to bring that out onto paper... not so much my forte!
If I ever manage such a feat, I will send you a copy with a big bag of dates so you won't be tempted to snack on the sketch. :)
