It was a portent.billiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18187141867284800597noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31257856.post-6917445822694705152007-04-19T21:12:00.000-05:002007-04-19T21:12:00.000-05:00There is nothing like the sound of an owl to awake...There is nothing like the sound of an owl to awaken something visceral in the human spirit.

At least that is true for me.

What a blessing to hear them. What a portent. So I bet they could find a nook up in the barn that would be suitable as is.billiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18187141867284800597noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31257856.post-24063693091748845102007-04-18T09:56:00.000-05:002007-04-18T09:56:00.000-05:00I have always loved listening to owls although I s...I have always loved listening to owls although I still haven't seen one outside a museum or zoo.

They are everywhere but like to keep well-hidden.

It would be wonderful to find one in our barn someday.

Maybe we need to build them a nesting box. . .Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31257856.post-80802637589039348012007-04-18T09:11:00.000-05:002007-04-18T09:11:00.000-05:00When I went downstairs, I was in the bathroom whic...When I went downstairs, I was in the bathroom which is on the other side of the house, away from the woods, and another owl called three times.

I had an amazing experience (similar to this but it went much further) with a little eastern kingbird a few years ago. And the ravens/crows for a longer period of time.

I would be more than thrilled if we had a barn owl. Do they actually live inside the barn? I would love that.billiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18187141867284800597noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31257856.post-14395660111178654022007-04-18T08:48:00.000-05:002007-04-18T08:48:00.000-05:00I do think he was speaking to you.
